Metropolis Gate

"Metropolis Gate" comes from the Invisible Cities series, which arose from my fascination with Italo Calvino's book of the same title. In Calvino's work, cities are like dreams—suspended between memory, dream, desire, fear... During my studies, I illustrated this book, then began painting my own cities.
They are dense, cramped, architecture grows as if without a plan (or with a plan I don't understand). It's a bit like in my head, when thoughts swirl, pile up, and expand like a labyrinth. There's also a gate. I can enter there...
In the context of the "Pathos" exhibition, I like the idea that I don't have to manage and control everything. Sometimes I can simply stand in front of the gate and consider: do I want to escape my chaos, my loop, my tangled history, my hesitations, reflexes, and the ruts of my thinking...
But do I really want to know what's next?
